Autumn 2021
We began the year by learning and performing poetry. We began with a simple poem by Tony Ross 'Dazzling Diggers'. We then looked at the classic poem by Robert Louis Stevenson 'From a Railway Carriage'. Here are our performances.
Clive King
Stig of the Dump
This half term we have looked at two books- Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura and Stig of the Dump by Clive King. This has tied in with our work on the Stone Age in history. The story of Stig is a children's classic (one of Mr Watson's favourites). We have been looking at a lot of figurative language in this half term so we could write an alternative end chapter.
Spring 2022
Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare
In the new year we have begun by looking at our first play by William Shakespeare. We completed a simple biography about the Bard. After this we learnt how to write an informal letter. We wrote as if Hermia or Helena to the Lysander or Demetrius. The half term was finished by us looking at the features of a playscript, performing a small piece ourselves.
